Mobility Grants: Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs)

We are pleased to announce the 1st Call for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) under the KGELL COST Action. These grants are designed to strengthen our network and accelerate joint outputs by supporting physical mobility, capacity building, and knowledge transfer through bilateral or multilateral collaborations.

🌍 What are STSMs?

STSMs fund exchange visits for researchers to conduct short research stays at host institutions, typically in a country other than their country of affiliation. These missions aim to foster collaboration and produce concrete scientific results.💡 Thematic Priorities

We welcome applications aligned with KGELL objectives and Working Groups. Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Augmenting LLMs with KGs.
  • Domain-specific LLM tasks and KG construction.
  • Multilinguality, bias, ethics, and validation frameworks.

📅 Key Dates & Funding

  • Application Deadline: 15 April 2026 (23:59 CET).
  • Notification of Selection: 1 May 2026.
  • Mission Completion: Must be completed by 1 November 2026.
  • Funding: Grants of up to 2,100 euros are available to cover mobility costs.

📝 How to Apply

Applications must be submitted via the e-COST portal. Please ensure you upload all required documentation:

  1. STSM Grant Application (COST template).
  2. Confirmation from the host institution.
  3. Motivation letter detailing the planned work, relevance to KGELL, and expected career impact.

Important Note: To ensure fair distribution, applicants may submit only one application per call round and must choose a single KGELL grant track.

⚖️ Evaluation & Reporting

Proposals will be ranked based on scientific quality, feasibility, and alignment with COST inclusiveness goals (including support for early-career researchers and gender balance). Upon completion, grantees are required to submit a final report within 30 days documenting their outputs (e.g., publications, datasets, or software).

For further details on the application procedure, please consult the Grant Awarding section on e-COST or see the attached document.
